We Love Green is commiting to planting 1 tree to every festival-goer in the Sahel region to protect its vulnerable ecosystem, a total of 80,000 trees. Africa 2020 has informed the festival’s music programming, with a host of star names and rising talent. Already a world-renowned name and arena-filling artist, Afrobeats superstar Wizkid leads the bill. Ninho, a French rap star with Congolese heritage, is also well on the way to achieving Wizkid’s level of international crossover success. The bill also features Sampa The Great, who melds rap with elements of jazz and soul; teenage rapper and Def Jam artist Koba LaD; the electrifying Ugandan DJ and activist Kampire; and the Gcom pioneer DJ Lag; and Mr Eazi, known as the pioneer of Banku Music, a fusion sound of Ghaninan highlife and Nigertian chord progressions.
We Love Green’s celebration of Africa 2020 will also inform the festival in various other ways. It will influence the choice thinkers and speakers who will feature at the Think Tank x Le Monde (France’s leading national newspaper) ideas lab, a well as the creatives designing its art installations and projections, and its internationally flavoured array of gastronomic experiences.
